Premium Vinyl Style CD ~ Inkjet Printable

This is a standard size 120mm recordable CD but has a black base which masks any burn marks, allowing the disc to look like a mastered cd. The surface has a black 'real look and feel' vinyl groove which mimicks a traditional record and the center area is inkjet printable for on-body inkjet printing. The printable area is 70mm and requires an appropriate on-body disc printer.

These discs have been manufactured to provide an excellent base for high resolution on-body inkjet printing.

These discs have a vinyl style effect on the top which is very realistic, compared to a real record. The grooves are realistic but this disc can not be played on a turntable and is designed for CD playback only.

These Vinyl CD-R are perfect for audio or data use, and are widely supported for playback in computers, standalone hi-fi or car CD players. When recording these discs, computer based recording is intended e.g using standard CD writer on a modern PC or MAC, or using duplication equipment e.g towers. These discs are NOT compatible with standalone audio recorders as commonly used in studios.

Printable Area

These discs are hub printable which means the inner hub area is printable. The actual spec is 70mm printable area with two zones. Zone 1 is printable from 20mm - 31mm and Zone 2 is printable from 36mm - 70mm.

True Black Base

We have specialised in this media since 2003 and were the first UK company to sell and specialise in vinyl style media. The base of many inferior types on the market are dark red or blue whereas these use a high quality black DYE which is top quality offering wide comptability in both play back and recording. This DYE has consistently been dark, but our latest batch improves yet again on the replica vinyl look.

Printing onto Vinyl CD

Unlike a standard CD/DVD with a full printable surface, these discs have a vinyl groove on most of the surface with a 70mm printable are within the middle which gives the record look. This inner area is designed for on-body printing and must be done using an inkjet printer which is capable of handling optical media.

Your chosen inkjet printer needs to be able to handle 'zone printing' which is a setting within the driver which allows you to define which areas are printable e.g 70 - 36mm is zone 1 and then 31mm - 20mm is zone2. Unless you can do this, you will be applying ink onto the stacking ring (non print area) between 31 and 36mm which will result in smudging.

Supported Printers 

This latest 70mm product provides greater compatibility with the majority of inkjet printers which use laser detection (require white surface reflection for disc detection). Clamping based printers which physically hold the disc will be fine. The surface is fantastic for professional on-body printing and DIY hobby use, allowing vibrant colour to be produced on the face of the disc. If in doubt, please check with the manufacturer of your printer.

'Classic Vinyl CD-R Black These CD-Rs are great not one problem with coping music to them, I personally have started recreating my single collection from the 50s and 80s and they truly look stunning. I only have one fault and that is the thin black line in the centre of the disc, if that inner printable circle was 100% printable in white I would give it 5 stars.
