Our Replica Vinyl Style CD Looks like a record but is in fact a 12cm CD with a black data side, imitation vinyl grooves on the top and a 71mm inkjet printable area which allows the disc to be customised using an approproate on-body printer. This disc is designed for playback in CD players(car, home etc) + computerbased playback.

Is it a CD? Is it a Vinyl Record? In actual fact, it's both! 

This is a 12cm sized CDROM which will play audio on a standard CD player just like a standard audio CD, however this disc also includes 'real vinyl grooves' which include a 33rpm track which will play on a real record deck / player. How cool is that?

Now, we have something entirely new. These CD's actually play on a deck! The Vinyldisc enables the interconnection of the analogue and digital worlds of sound. The starting point is a CD-ROM which can contain audio material or applications CD-ROM format. The upper surface of the disc contains a gramophone-record groove, which is playable on all record-players.

CD-VINYLDISC ~ The Idea

The CD-Vinyldisc provides an alliance between the world of analog and digital resonance. It is the combination of a regular Audio-CD with a vinyl record. The surface of the disc contains a vinyl groove and is manufactured on the basis of a vinyl stamper. It can be played back on almost any record player. This disc is manufactured on one side with a black polycarbonate surface to increase the vinyl look.

The Implementation

The CD surface of the disc has a capacity of 70:00 minutes. The vinyl surface of the disc can be used for a brief song up to 3.5 minutes. The disc is intended for playback on all standard CD and DVD players. The Audio-CD may not play on all players.

The ideal look would be to print the vinyl surface with a „vinyl label“ with a diameter of 6 cm to create an authentic „vinyl character“. This combination with a special cardboard sleeve further intensifies this effect.

The disc is delivered with a special adapter. This must be affixed to the record players spindle so the CD Vinyldisc can be properly played.

In regards to playing back the vinyl surface

The stylus of the record player must be put manually to the disc, not automatically. For automatic record players the drive of the stylus to the groove has to be conducted very carefully. Too fast of a movement of the stylus would activate the lift-off mechanism and end the procedure. Please note that we can not take responsibility for any damage to the record player caused by misuse.

Artwork Requirement

We will use Offset Litho printing as standard (CMYK) although we will suggest silkscreen printing if we feel it will suit your artwork better OR you provide pantone references. Artwork can be supplied in .AI, .PSD, .EPS format and must be 300dpi CMYK with all fonts converted to outlines.

Providing Masters

We prefer masters are sent to us in CD-R or CD-ROM format (DVD also) although in certain situations we can accept an .ISO file upload to our servers.
